Hi,
The coffin is still a mystery!

THE LATE REV. GEORGE AVIS, OF MARLPOOL
April 3rd 1908
Ilkeston Pioneer
He was pastor at the Congregational Church 38 years his wife’s family were the Hardy family from Kimberley.
The coffin was of polished oak with brass furniture, and bore the following inscription: “George Avis, died March 27th 1908 aged 72 “ The body was placed in the vault of the Hardy family at Marlpool Cemetery, and the grave was lined with fir leaves and flowers. The Rev. J. J. Cross pronounced the Benediction at the graveside.
