Whirligig was on at Saturday teatime -I think H.L. was Humphrey Lestocq- Sometimes puppets-Mr Beetroot and Mr Turnip
H.L.'s catchphrase was "Goody goody gumdrops"
Mr Turnips was "Lawkey, lawkey lum."
There was also a mexican glove Puppet called Hank. Steve Race was at piano, Edmundo Ross also appeared. Peter Butterworth did competions for children. Rolph Harris made his TV debut on Whirligig.
The show was written by Peter ling who went on to cowrite Crossroads.
"Whirligig, whirligig, round and round we go,
Whirligig, whirligig, time to say hello.
Turnip, Hank and H.L. want us to know
It's welcome to Whirligig and on with the show."
