Trying to remember all the coop shops in Langley mill in 1940-50's-omitting "other" shops
Starting at Aldercar, just before Sir Charles Napier was a grocery shop, furhter down Cromford Road on left was the Coal Wharf, then opposite Campbell St was the yard, housing Wedding/Funeral cars, Milk floats, Stables, Cobblers, on right hand side just after the railway crossing was the Greengrocers, the fishmongers, and on the corner of Dean St all in one shop was gents tailoring, shoes, school outfitters, next to that was the bank and offices, across the road on Dean St the hardware shop, then the side entrance to the Coop Hall, corner of Dean St/Cromford Rd was Butchers, grocery(which became self service in early 1950's,corner of Bridge St/Cromford Rd Gents Hairdressers, Chemists and across the road was the paint and wallpaper shop. Somewhere along that stretch was ladies hairdressers-which was upstairs. Can you remember anymore?Or who worked in the shops?
