Langley Mill Coop

My mother was a Mutuality Collector in the 60's - her patch was Eastwood and Newthorpe, and parts of Langley Mill I think. It was a credit scheme - you received vouchers to spend at the Co-op, then paid back over a period - a form of HP, except that you could spend your vouchers on anything, whereas with HP the seller retained ownership of the bought item till you had paid a certain percentage back. And, of course, you still got your Divi!!!

I think that's how it worked anyway.
