Hi, San.
Bircumshaw Rd; is named after Isaac Bircumshaw, a Tailor and coal owner, who resided at Commonside. Originally, the road was called 'Back Lane' and was the main Rd; of Bogard Town.

From the Society's booklet - 'The Origin of Heanor and District Street Names'.

Many thanks to Peter. So much information! The problem was the batch number. You had given me the last 2 numbers the wrong way round. No matter. I arrived there eventually.

Thanks, Jenny,
Do you know of any dates for Isaac Birkumshaw and if he had any connection with Mary, wife of Joseph Slack?
Also, I was grateful for the list of Slack baptisms, 1756-1798, which enabled me to piece together 2 generations, but do you know where I can find any earlier dates for Slacks or Birkumshaw?
