replied on: 10/10/2005 11:00:34 AM It was indeed the old ambulance station and after that was owned by the county council as part of Shipley park. It was used at that point as a depot for the country park vehicles and maitanence team. Whether that is the case now after the new depot was built at the visitor centre I know not. We used to fill the Land Rovers and JCB up there when I worked there, but is was rather prone to break ins and theft. We had to reinforce all the doors with steel. |

replied on: 9/13/2005 4:10:08 PM since i visited the "garage" i have found out that it was an ambulance station for the pit in shipley and presumedly the surrounding area's. i was informed that the station was closed down in 1972,leaving the petrol pump still in the same location.it was removed from the site because the fuel was being removed illigally. shame really, they could have emptied the tank and left the pre war pump in place. but orders were issued to scrap the pump from what i hear. |

replied on: 9/9/2005 10:29:51 PM can anyone tell me when the garage that is opposite to the school in shipley opened and closed and who ran it.(i've no idea the name of the lane that brings you to it)there is a fairly old petrol pump and the premises always look if they have a new lick of paint. |
