The Avengers
replied on: 9/21/2005 11:15:46 PM About 'The Avengers':: The only thing that was featured, was a longshot and zoom-in sequence which was filmed from the lane at the back of the Visitor Centre, of The Headstocks. The storyline was about something that was happening underground, regarding it being used for something neucler, I think. Twentieth Century Fox Sound Crew visited Coppice again in 1955 to record the pit blower, which is now a general film sound effect used under licence for TV and film use, in almost all coalmine and Factory subjects. Now copyrighted I understand, like the 'Tarzan' call...... ATV filmed a sequence for a play called, 'Your'e a Brave Man Jack', which showed Sid Shelbourne who then lived in the Falls Road area of Heanor, ex-taxi business. He was used because the National Union of Mineworkers, would not allow a film extra to be used for safety reasons. Coppice Colleries then famous pit pony 'TOM' was featured in two films of 'Mining Review' made by Data Productions, and the same company made a classic ten minute short called 'Waters of Time' filmed in, and on, the Erewash Canal, and valley. [1970s.] Molto Vivace................. |
