Not sure what you mean with this one Ice. The turnpike road preceded the Nottingham Canal and the Cromford Canal by more than twenty years. It isn't, of course, a coincidence that the roads and canals went between the same places - Cromford was a very important centre for manufacturing, and Nottingham was a major outlet.
