There was an exceptionally large attendance at a police ball organised by Langley Mill Section on behalf of the Derbyshire Constabulary Diamond Jubilee Widow’s and Orphans Fund, which was held at Messrs I. And R. Morley’s Social Rooms, Heanor, on Friday last. Amongst these present were Superintendent and Mrs S. Richardson (Ilkeston), Inspector and Mrs Harris (Langley Mill), and Sergeant Wilson (Heanor), a most enjoyable programme of dance music was provided by Billy Short and his Band and Councillor T. A. Blowers and Mr. A. Winfield were M.C.s.
