Shops in Langley Mill
replied on: 10/12/2005 12:55:36 AM That's good, Sue. Let's try and work out a bit more about some of these.... W. Sutcliffe remained in business for donkey's years (handing over to his son at some time). They were opposite the end of Elnor Street. Joseph Pye was at the junction of Station Road and North Street. K. Holford will have been the shop on Ebenezer Street which had the jitty at the side of it running down to the junior school. Maxfield's Chemists subsequently became Taylor's Chemists, opposite the Railway Tavern. That's about all I can comment on. |
