DURO FRETWELL
replied on: 10/12/2005 5:20:26 PM

Welcome Durobird-
A friend of mine has a large tree of the Duro's-her name is spellt Durow-but she has discovered Duro, Durow and Durose are all variations on the name-she has researched for many years-just depends how the registrar, enumerator spellt it.Her Duro's are from Ilkeston/Mapperley village area mainly. If you can give any specific dates, names etc I will ask if they are in her tree.
On 1881 census- there is a Job Fretwell keeping the Newdigate pub on High lane West Hallam-I think that Fretwell is somehow linked by marriage to my family. He originated from the Fretwells who were born in Shipley
