The Queens head Marlpool

24TH Mar 1961 Funeral of Marlpool Licensee Mr J. H. Winfield the death took place on Sunday of Mr John Henry Winfield of the Queens Head Breach Rd Marlpool Mr Winfield who was 66 was one of the oldest Licensees in the Heanor and Ilkeston area and his death followed a long illness, borne with much patience and fortitude. Most affectionately known by his customers as “Harry” Mr Winfield was born at the “pub” of which his parents, Mr and Mrs J.H. Winfield held the Licence. He was educated at Nottingham High School and worked at J. & W. Furse Ltd Notts as an electrician and during the first world war he served as a dispatch rider. Married Maude Brown of Marlpool she died 1938, his mother retired 1923,Harry took over and retired last year the Queens Head had been in the Winfield family for over 70 years.
