Langley Mill Boy Scouts
replied on: 11/28/2005 10:16:28 AM A cub pack (and possibly Scouts) used to meet (50's) in an upstairs room at the Central Methodist Chapel (now a light fitting warehouse) on Cromford Road. When we were "being daring" we would sneak upstairs to have a look into the room -banners, etc were kept there. Wonder if they moved from there when the scout hut was built?? A Brownie pack used to meet in the Church Hall next to Aldercar Infants School Cromford Road (now demolished)Brown Owl was Jessie Todd-the milkwoman from Campbell Street (there is a pic of Jessie on her horse drawn milk cart in the society's Langley Mill publication.) We used to dance around a large toadstool, then each platoon would sing their song -I was in the elves *Here we are the little elves, helping others not ourselves", then our penny subs were thrown at the toadstool.!!! |
