replied on: 5/27/2007 7:36:47 PM Hiya, My James married Emma Woolley in 1869. So sadly it isn't the same James, but i haven't got any further back then James' father, who was also James b.1813, so there might be a connection somewhere along the line. I have however, found the marriage on the family history website. It says that James Mee married Catherine Gillott in 1865 at Heanor St Lawrence. If you find out who his father is, please let me know. Regards, Ally. |

replied on: 4/13/2007 10:47:39 AM Found a John in 1861 who seems to "fit the bill" Living at Nook End Heanor with parents Samuel 49 FWK Mary 43 sisters Sarah A 11(working as a stocking seamer) and Elizabeth 7 also with them was William Weston 17 who was Mary's son John and Sally's daughters were Elizabeth Ann and Mary Alice Doesn't look like they had more children , as Sally was a widow by 1901 In 1891 they had a lot of people visiting on census night : Charles mack -commedian, Sarah mack vocalist -and a couple more comedians -do you want details of those? It looks like 1901 Mary Alice was living in and working as a servant at Loscoe Rd for Joseph Lomax Miller and Corn dealer and family |

"I am tracing my Mother's family & have them back to 1827 - John Mee of Loscoe married in Trowell; eldest son William married at Stapleford & his eldest son, John (my great grandfather), moved to Old Brampton as sexton & verger, later parish clerk; born Sept.1852; died July 1917. replied on: 12/11/2005 7:54:20 PM I'm afraid I can't help you with your actual question - I live much too far away. But if you find a connection to the Spondon Mee's I'd be very interested and could then certainly help you with your researches. Tony |

Mee Family of Heanor
replied on: 12/10/2005 2:39:38 PM Hello everyone, hope you are all well, I am currently researching the Mee side of my family tree. I have researched back to 1813 when my gt gt gt gt grandfather was born. I have found that My great grandad was Frank Herbert Mee (born 1915). My gt gt grandad was Frank Walter Mee (born 1891). My gt gt gt grandad was James Mee (born 1845) and My gt gt gt gt grandad was also James Mee (born 1813). They was all born (and lived) in Heanor. I would love to find out who James'(1813) parents were and also his brothers and sisters but i have no idea on how to go about this. I have been on the taghill website for baptism's but there aren't that many Mee's listed. Does anyone know where the best place is to find out this kind of info? Does the Heanor Library hold copies of earlier baptisms for Heanor St Lawrence? Or would I have to visit the derbyshire records office? Any info would be a great help. Best wishes, Ally. |
