replied on: 10/26/2006 3:29:55 PM although we would all like to go back in time and see everything like it used to be,i suppose we ought to be grateful that the church has gone and the old people's home is about to go..it was just a breeding ground for ways and strays...still it would be nice if someone could come on the forum with some pictures of how it used to be. |

replied on: 10/25/2006 11:53:07 PM before the houses were built it was a field where you could go to feed the horse-now the church has gone+Dracotts farmhouse is about to follow.with builders ready to erect flats/houses/car parks/etc.PROGRESS!! |

replied on: 10/25/2006 11:45:36 PM the gate at the bottom of dracotts lane+the one on Western drive have been closed over 30yrs. the one on Lockton avenue was also closed.two houses stand there now. |

replied on: 7/12/2006 11:49:05 PM as you go down towards the cemetery from the orchards and get the metal fence,there is a gate there that obviously isn't used anymore,but i wonder when it was closed off. |

replied on: 7/12/2006 11:42:47 PM Yes, imagine you have come out the front door of one of the cottages then across the path. You then open the gate and have a garden the width (maybe a bit more) of the cottage. They were about 50 yds deep with some tall trees forming the boundary with the cemetary. I seem to remember the trees being very tall and being a rookery as well. It has probably lost the trees by now but that is what I remember from the mid 50s. regards Phil |
