replied on: 2/17/2008 6:10:57 AM Hi, I am Ian Gabler, son of Angela Miller Mundy. I am doing a slide show for her 90th birthday to put on DVD and started looking up her history online when I came across this chat. She grew up at Shipley Hall and I wanted to put some pictures of it in the show but all the ones I download from the web do not look good on a tv screen. does anyone have any photos they could Email to me at iangabler @ bellsouth . net ? |

replied on: 11/24/2007 6:37:10 PM You beat me to it Phil! I'm sure I've read somewhere about a pet cemetery. But equally, it rings a bell that one of the Miller Mundys was buried at the hall - will have to read up on it again! |

replied on: 11/26/2006 7:12:12 PM I've been told by one of the old churchwardens that when the Church was being demolished/rebuilt as well as publishing the details about the dimensions of the Mundy vault at Heanor that one of the members took some photos of the doorway to the vault as well as the vault itself before the vault was resealed. Does anyone know if the photos still exist and if it is possible to get copies? |

replied on: 1/23/2006 6:45:14 PM Thanks for the info. Did the family continue as 'lords of the manor' elsewhere, or did the wars and economy change their fortunes ( bearing in mind you are still in contact with them! LOL). Are they in pocession of artifacts from the Shipley Hall and photo's that we have not seen? Sadly there seems to be so little evidence left, both of artifacts and photo's and day to day memories of a Great house. |

replied on: 1/22/2006 8:29:59 PM There is a vault in Heanor Church, and I believe that some of the later Miller Mundy's were buried at Cotmanahy. The family continued after they left Shipley - I had ab email recently from one of the family. |
