See the discussion on the Heanor Forum - I was told exactly the same. Follow this link direct to it, as as the Forum grows it can be quite hard to find specific items.

But what were we afraid of?

Over the slag heaps was peacock town if I dared to go to peacock town I would surley meet with something unpleasant (or so I was told in 1966)?
