Peter Chamberlain Researcher	Certificates replied on: 2/12/2006 8:59:10 PM Polly Basford is only a registration district It has Sub Districts IE GREASLEY ILKESTON Ect so you cannot research there If you go to a records office it would be better to know where the person was born or baptised suggest you give us some family names and dates to begin Peter
Polly	Certificates replied on: 2/12/2006 7:42:24 PM Hi I have been visiting this site for quite a while now and love it.Reading the family history topics has got me started researching my own family history.But being an absolute beginner I have ground to a halt.I am stuck because I dont know some of the maiden names.I went to gro.gov.uk to order certificates to try and find out more but of course you need to know the parents names of the people you want certificates for! So I think my next move should be the records office,it seems like most of my family were registered at Basford so would I have to go to Basford or could I do it at Matlock.Any advice would be appreciated.
