Fred Barks owned the menswear shop on the corner of the Market Place and was later joined by his brother Eddie ,who used to play football for Notts Forest and then Mansfield.Fred first of all used to work for Harrimans on Red Lion Square and then took over their business .They were 2 of the 5 sons of Harry and Susannah (nee Cope)from Northern Road .
