Does anyone remember a sweet shop halfway up Sedgwick Street on the right-hand side?

Not at all. You're not thinking of the shop/chip shop on Peel Street are you?

Robert. I think my sister may have got it mixed up with Morris's in Peel Street. Some more from the 50's.
I know Smithsons chemist's at the bottom of Dunstead have been mentioned, coming back towards the church. There was a piece of waste land, which is now built up, followed by Pidd's decorators, which was then Les.Riley's, before becoming Classic Design.Next door was Drapers confectioners where we used to get our sherbut dips and chewing wood from before going across the crossing to school.Next was Archie Fogg's Garage, then Don Lockwoods Butchers on the corner of Peel Street.Moving further up Station Road I seem to remember either one or two shops opposite the Working Men's Club one of them may have been a greengrocers "Calladines"? And now coming back to that lovely photo of Harry Davis's, I think it can easily be confused with the Chinese Takeaway with the entries being very similar, the difference is, the arch in the photo is smaller than the one next to the takeaway. I'm fairly certain that "The Pantry" was Morleys Grocers and the "Tanning Shop" was Carvers hairdressers, I remember the takeaway being toys & fancy goods.
Can anyone remember another chip shop Jack Whartons, just round the corner on Cromford Road at Aldercar opposite Aldercar Infants.
