windmill on mill rd marlpool
replied on: 3/5/2006 6:31:32 PM The windmill appears on the 1887 map found on http://www.old-maps.co.uk. The map is more detailed than the earlier one. Using my trusty A to Z street atlas I would place the mill between Mill Bank and Mill Road. The old-maps site is easily navigated and searched, once you have the small map on screen select enlarged map from the buttons at the bottom. The enlarged map appears in a new window and can be saved by right clicking then selecting save as. The map is saved in bmp format and it is a good idea to change the name from untitled. If you have image manipulation software you can crop the image to concentrate on the immediate area of the windmill. The cheats way is to print it on A4 paper then blow it up to A3 size on the copier(if you have access to one). regards Phil |
