Dunstead?

Robert.
Dunstead had got two posh houses both on the left hand side and at the top of Lower Dunstead Road,Dunstead Lodge which was the home of Doctor (Jack)Holmes and the main drive was opposite Thompson street with the tradesmens entrance where St.Andrews drive is. The other house was Dunstead House between Ebenezer Street and Thompson Street I never knew who lived there but in the mid 1950's there were 1 or 2 Foreign Frame Mechanics from Aristoc Living there,us kid's thought they were spy's.In the fields at the back of Dr.Holmes was Godkin House farm and according to the 1900 O.S.Map there was an old coal shaft, disused. Could this have been Dunstead colliery? There was a brickyard at the bottom of Ormonde Street at the side of the railway and stretching back to the Star foundry.
