Local Coach Companies
replied on: 3/26/2006 8:15:27 PM

Copes were last situated on Watkinson Street in the early to mid 1980's by which time the business was starting to wind down having only one coach and a minibus. Also garged there were funeral/wedding cars and hearse used (in partnership?) with Gillots of Ray Street I believe. The cars being Austins dating from 1968 (E reg) with all the numbers following on - LVO ...E. I remember visting the garage on one occasion and being offered the business and four bedroomed house for £80,000 which unfortunatly I couldn't raise at that time - just think what the house alone is worth today!
