Heanor St. Lawrence - Empty Tomb, etc
replied on: 5/4/2006 10:15:51 AM

I had the opportunity to climb the tower on May Day. It was an interesting experience - dont think I ever did it as a child. Dont think I had ever been inside the church since it was re-done after the fire and thats a while ago now. What really upset me was finding the baptismal font had been cemented onto a memorial stone, covering a large portion of the inscription. That just happens to be one of my relatives. It doesnt show any respect. I cant imagine what prompted that descision and it has no regard for the history of the area.

Just had to get it off my chest.
