My friend is scouring the newspapers for any reports-so watch this space!!!!
Got it! Thank you John -my PCless friend!!!!

Seems like SILVER LINING WEEK was a national Savings Campaign to encourage people to invest their "silver shillings"

R&H 30 Jan 1948
An advert -(with picture of little girl)announces
"SILVER LINING WEEK-30 Jan -Sat 7 Feb 1938
Heanor target £10,000
Remember it's my future you are looking after. When I grow up I want to know some of the joys of living that you knew in pre war days. I want a chance in life. Will you give it to me by saving every shilling you can? Give me a silver lining. Save, you are saving today for tomorrow."

R&H Fri 6 Feb 1948-there is a full page report on the Silver Lining Campaign
"Much enthusiasm as the Silver Lining Campaign was opened at Heanor grammar School by officials Geoffrey De Freitus MP Nottingham Under Secretary of State for Ayr....Commissioner for National Savings..... £2million raised since 1940 by street groups, schools etc.... Langley Mill and Aldercar Cooperative Soc had given £130.000 and had promised a further £1000 this year..... vocal and instrumental entertainment by Derbys Youth Choir...

Third day of Silver Lining week, Heanor had raised £12353 towards their £25,000 target (Heanors original target was £10000 but at the opening meeting a councillor stated they could do better than that and raised target to £25000)........ Admission to the "See Your Town Exhibition" at the Town Hall was free at the weekend to improve attendance. The Heanor Traders Exhibition was opened by Hubert Holdworth chairman of E Midlands Div NCB Saturday last. .. Schools visited the exhibition in the afternoons, adults in the evenings..... Film displays by Coun. H.B/Hunt........ Choice musical items given by Heanor and District Orchestral Society under their principal George Pynegar....

Empire Day was celebrated in schools and village groups, churches etc would put on shows-and as the Pynegars used to organise shows ,concerts etc in Heanor, I suspect it was a show, concert which was done for Empire Day.
Empire Day was always on 24 May (from 1916) -Queen Victorias birthday -and was mainly a celebration of the youth of the Empire.Cadets paraded, flags were flown,
1958 the name changed to Commonwealth Day
1966 it was linked to Queen Elizabeth11
official birthday in June.
The Queen sends a message to the youth of the Commonwealth by BBC World Service

As for Silver Lining Day -not a clue-but am sure someone will know.
