WHICH SARAH BULLOCK?
replied on: 7/6/2007 5:42:43 PM Kevin Likewise I have received your certificate copies in good order - thanks again. May I ask if anyone has any knowledge of a marriage between the "other" Sarah Bullock and Samuel Gillott? Phil |

WHICH SARAH BULLOCK?
replied on: 7/4/2007 12:09:39 AM pacaine I have scanned copies of Sarah Bullock's mothers and (step)sister's Marriage certs if you'd like to swap images - I'll try to e-mail you my address. Both also marry in Duffield giving Belper as their residence, yet live in Heanor at the time. Mother Mary marries Richard Allen, who I suspect is the Richard Bullock named as the father on Sarah's marriage cert. Kevin |

WHICH SARAH BULLOCK?
replied on: 7/3/2007 8:56:38 PM I thought the thread was dead and discovered accidentally, when looking for something else, that this flood of new information had been added - many thanks. I do have the 1838 marriage certificate but it doesn't help much. They both claim residence in Belper and "of full age". Sarah gives her father's name as Richard Bullock. None of this ties in with what's known about the Heanor pair. We know that there were 2 Sarah Bullocks so could there also be 2 Abrahams? By the way I have a birth certificate for Joseph Gillott b 1846 - mother Alice, which turned out not to be "my" Joseph, if anyone wants it. pacaine |

WHICH SARAH BULLOCK?
replied on: 6/10/2007 12:59:10 PM Found where I got the details of Abraham's criminal records - there is a link to an Index of Names sentenced at Derby Assizes from the GenUKI Derbyshire page under Court Records. I was looking to see if I could find out why he was in Nottingham Gaol in 1851, but couldn't come up with anything. The site did throw up the other cases involving Abraham Gillott, who I am convinced is the same one in Gaol in 1851, and married to Sarah Gillott, nee Bullock. The Derby Assizes index has been updated and now comes up with these entries for Abraham : 1840 Aug 3 Abrahan GILLOTT 22 shopbreaking not guilty 1842 Oct 18 Abraham GILLOTT 23 larceny 4 month 1852 Mar 10 Abraham GILLOTT uttering counterfeit silver coin 1 years 1853 Oct 18 Abraham GILLOTT breaking into warehouse not guilty Still can't find why he was in Gaol in 185 though. And still cant find either Abraham or Sarah in 1841 Census. Kevin |

replied on: 6/9/2007 11:02:51 PM Transcript of 1871 Census as follows : 02 APR 1871 Tag Hill, Heanor, Derbys RG10 / 3480 / ?? Page 26 Sarah GILLOTT 51 Head Widow Char Woman Heanor, Derbys Charles GILLOTT 5 Grandson Scholar Heanor, Derbys Also, in 1851 Census Sarah gives her status as Married so husband Abraham was still alive - you will find him in Nottingham Gaol : CENSUS HO.107 / 2133 / 8 Page 8-10 County Gaol, High Pavement St. Mary, Nottingham, Notts Abraham GILLOTT 31 Prisoner Marr Framework Knitter Heanor, Derbys Joseph ELLIOTT 28 Prisoner Marr Framework Knitter Heanor, Derbys Also an Abraham Gillott & Joseph Elliott are sentenced to 1 year on 10 Mar 1852 for "uttering counterfeit silver coin" - so has to be same Abraham Gillott. He is then found not guilty of breaking into a warehouse on 18 Oct 1853. I have printed the above data from the internet but do not have any record of which site I got them from. Try googling. I have never found a death/burial record for Abraham, though in 1861 Census Sarah says she is a widow. Based on his criminal record is it possible maybe that he ended up getting some free passage to Australia !. Kevin |

WHICH SARAH BULLOCK?
replied on: 6/8/2007 11:05:58 AM Abraham died in 1851, before the Census was taken. He was the son of - 3rd child- Samuel Gillott (c 1780) and Catherine Wood who married at Heanor St Lawrence on 1 Jan 1808. He married Sarah Bullock at St Alkmund's Duffield on June 3, 1838. Sarah was the illigitamate child of Mary Bullock, who later married Richard Allen, since three of the children were deemed to be illigitimate, and baptised after the Napolonic Wars, it is reasonable to assume that Richard was away fighting the French, as he had three more children on his return. Mary was the Daughter of Francis Bullock and Mary Buckland, who married at Heanor in October 2, 1783. Abraham Gillott and Sarah's daughter Mary, 1848 maried Thomas Calladine on August 23, 1868 - hence my interest - and called one of thier children Charles Gilliott Calladine. 1881 census Household: Derby Road, Heanor, Derbyshire RG11 3324 / 27 47 Name Relation Marital Status Gender Age Birthplace Occupation Disability Thomas CALLADINE Head M Male 32 Heanor, Derby, England Coal Miner Mary CALLADINE Wife M Female 32 Heanor, Derby, England Charles G. Do you have a transcript of the 1871 census, I missed that one out lol. David Calladine |

WHICH SARAH BULLOCK?
replied on: 7/10/2006 6:11:26 PM Thanks Bob. I was aware of that tree, but have some niggling doubts. That Sarah was born in Duffield in June 1823 and therefore would have been barely fifteen on marriage. The Sarah on the census in Tag Hill consistently gives her birth as 1819 and claims a Heanor birth for herself and four children. The other Sarah, married to Samuel Gillott, has the correct birth date June 1823. I think some record somewhere has confused Sarahs and birthdates. p |
