replied on: 7/28/2006 9:55:15 AM That's it - Francis E Boam, died age 57, MarchQ 1943 Ilkeston 7b/606. This makes his birth year about 1886, which fits nicely with the 1901 census Francis. If you would like the census details, send me a PM with your email address. Would you like me to search back for his parents etc? |

replied on: 7/27/2006 10:57:22 PM My apologies. Francis EDWARD Boam died 15/2/43 OR 1945. The photo says edwin but the tombstone says edward?? Nellie Boam died 25/9/1962 My mother Joan Nellie Boam born 15/6/1927 died may 1985. Hope this helps. |

Marriage of Francis Boam to Nellie Holmes; SeptQ 1926 Basford 7b/316 A birth for Francis E is more difficult without an age, his marriage certificate might help. There is a Francis, though Francis Edward, DecQ 1885 Basford 7b/149; but that is working on the basis that the 1901 census, with Francis E, born in Heanor, and parents John & Sarah, is the right one. This gives John Boam, 56, born Shipley and wife Sarah, 47, born Sandford, Oxon. Nearest likely birth for Nellie Holmes; MarchQ 1897 Basford 7b/200 Probable Boam children with Holmes as mother; Stanley JuneQ 1926 Mansfield 7b/294 Nellie SeptQ 1927 Basford 7b/332 No more before the end of 1935. Will this do to be going on with? Google hasn't come up with anything so far on Sir. |

But nothing for Francis in 1945; there is a Francis E Boam, born 1886, pupil teacher, living with parents in Heanor, though that may be a little early. So I am looking for a marriage - back later. |

replied on: 7/27/2006 7:23:25 AM Howdy.My name is Jeremy Scott from australia. I am the grandson of Francis Edwin Boam and Nellie Boam. As both my mother and father passed away many years ago I am a little short on knowledge about my family history. My mothers name is joan and my sister tina ( also here in australia). I have 2 very average photos here in front of me, one of a combined tombstone with death dates of 15/2/1945 ( Francis ) and 25/9/1962 ( nellie ). The other photo is of Francis with a caption on the back stating " Sir Francis Edwin Boam, Headmaster Sacred Heart College) Can anyone enlighten me as to the authenticity of these dates and titles.
