Jenny,
Almost certain that house numbers on Station Road have been changed, I remember the telephone exchange being in those house's. I have an address for Nellie Outram's Milliner's at No.80 Station Road in 1924 which was then almost opposite the entrance to which is now Netto's. The telephone exchange was in the houses to the right going towards Milnhay Road. If the numbers 142 - 144 are correct it suggests that they were numbered to the right, but Colin purchased No.146 which he says was to the left. Therefore it seems to indicate the houses have been re - numbered in the opposite direction.
