New Inn, Smalley Common

Can't help you with anything to do with the pub, but...

Smalley Common and Stanley Common were adjacent areas under the parishes of Smalley and Stanley. Sometime in the none-to-distant past (the 1972 boundary changes?, or possibly even later), Smalley Common became part of the village of Stanley Common, which is still part of the parish of Stanley. It did make sense, as the two places really merged into each other.

The only pub I know of along there is the White Post. I don't know if this was formerly the New Inn, or if there was another property.

Robert
