slightly off the subject ,but as kids in the 50's we used to chant - Fatty Bamber sells fish threeh'pence a dish don't buy it don't buy it , it stinks when you fry it - usually from a distance at large young ladies .I suppose Bamber's must have owned a fish shop at some time !

Welcome to the site - hope you find it of interest.

Fred Bamber was apparently the architect of the Heanor Miners Welfare. I assume that this will have been the same person - it was certainly the right time period.

See the Miner's Welfare thread for more details.

My grand parents lived in Peel Street Langly Mill, and in the 1920's bought 3 paintings from Fred Bamber, who as I understand lived on Derby Road/Taghill.

If any one has any more information on "Fred", I would be very interested

Thanks
