this list is by no means complete .my uncle Reg Barks was killed at Ormonde in 1943 ,he was 17 .Very sad wartime story ,my grandparents had 5 sons Tom was in a prisoner of war camp in Japan and died there,Fred was in Burma ,Eddie in Germany ,Horace was working in armaments in Chesterfield .Reg the youngest and favourite would be safer working locally - so Ormonde.They were carrying him out dead on the dayshift as Harry his dad was going in on the afternoon shift .He was a pony ganger and someone started the endless rope up as he was crossing it pulling wooden props .how tragic !
