Meakin family

Allyhawk, I have your Meakins too. Betsy was the first daughter of William Meakin and Martha, but her name was spelt Grainger which is why you may be having problems. William and Martha had 9 children including Betsy. The reason you can't find them on the census records I think, is because the family lived with William's parents, Henry Meakin (1801) and Fanny West (1804). Betsy shows on the 1851 and 1861, but as I say, with her family and her grandparents. She disappears on the census recs after that, I assume she married - haven't researched that yet!! Martha Grainger was born in Dunstead, Derbyshire. My connection is, William had 7 siblings, one of his brothers, Edward Meakin(1837) was my great great grandad. I have lots more Meakins, but I hope this helps, if I can help further I will. Sue
