Langley Mill/Aldercar School Teachers
replied on: 12/4/2006 3:48:07 PM

In the last issue of "The Heanorian", the magazine for the "Old boys and Girls" from Heanor Grammar School, there is a photo which includes a young English teacher, Gordon Leake, who went on to be Head of English at Aldercar in the early 60's. Now there was a teacher who stood no nonsense or took any prisoners.

I remember when he was on "dinner duty" at Aldercar, and when he had to say grace, he just stood in the corner saying nothing until this wave of silence started from the tables next to him and moved across the stage area until you could hear a pin drop. Only then would he say grace and food could be served.
