right..there's two pictures and one suggests that there was an allotment at the front side?..also there looks like there is scaffolding behind the public house..this was a 1960s photo.

Early 1960's - 1962 rings a bell, but I wouldn't swear to it.

does anyone know when the original "horse & jockey inn was demolished...looking on picture the past there is a picture of it with what looks oddly like a wood yard at the side...the crossing is still there on the front and there is a car in the car park which looks like a late 1950s hillman...

The placard doesn't say much.

Mainly its about the fact it used to be a farm before it was the Horse and Jockey, some very basic info about the buildings and the fact that one of their regulars was a monkey.

Ironically the the placard calls is titles "The horse and Jockey"

Well, probably to keep up with the times.

I notice there's a plackard outside with some info on...often those sort of things tell you more about the history of a place?

Mind you...am not volunteering to go have a look...I swore years ago that I'd never go in the Jockey again!

Yes, I've always called it The Jockey too. Its not as bad a name change as many, but I still wonder why!

I noticed too.

To be fair, everyone I know refer to it as The Jockey anyway!

It must be a bit strange to those who have known it as different for years mind you!

Has anyone else noticed that the Horse and Jockey has fully changed its name (including pub sign and the name on the outside) to just The Jockey?

I know that horses sometimes unseat their riders, so I assume this is what has happened here!
