Pit lagoons accident
replied on: 1/7/2007 11:43:28 AM Recall a little about this The child was eventually found in Bailey Brook after it had been drained the Dam being made against the Horse and Jockey. The Story suggested he was Trespassing on the Railway and had run off after being Challanged.A conveyor from New Langley Colliery ran from the mine and bridged the brook carrying fine silt.It seems he jumped from this into the Brook and was sucked into the silt unable to free himself.10 yards away was a bridge over the brook if only? Cannot recall the name of the child but know he lived on Lime Avenue on the Milnhay Estate Seem to think it was 1959 |
