Sorry for the delay - Ann Hunt wife of Robert "died with nathaniel" -means Ann was married to Robert but was "with/married to" nathaniel at the time of her death.

This memorial inscription will be of interest to you
Marlpool Cemetery Memorial inscriptions
"Thomas Dunn son of Nathaniel and Dorothy Dunn late of Algrave farm Shipley died 11th march 1890 age 38
also
Ada Elizabeth hunt wife of Ebenezar Hunt died 28th Sept 1932 age 64
also
Ebenezar Hunt died 11th August 1940 age 82
also
Henry 2nd son of Nathan and Dorothy of Algrave Farm Shipley died 23 Jun 1883 age 29 years
also
Dorothy beloved wife of Nathaniel Hunt died 3rd November 1888 age 67
also Nathaniel Hunt died 8th june 1889 age 67"

I think these are possibly the marriages of Ann and Robert and Nathaniel??

Nathaniel Hunt married Sarah Pindar 1793 Heanor

Robert Hunt married Ann Brunt (Lic|) 1808 Heanor

Have found the grave ref of Thomas Dunn Hunt on Genogold

and he is buried in Marlpool cemetery

Also Ann Hunt aged 80 wife of Robert Hunt who apparently "died with Nathaniel" whatever that means is also there as is Nathaniel the elder himself who died a year later at the age of 86.

doesn't shed much light on the "who is Nathaniel the younger's father?" though.

No rush - will get on with my Varleys and Fretwells in the meantime.

My lot (Thomas Dunn Hunt-eldest son of Nathaniel the younger- and family) moved from Breach Road Heanor when Thomas died and settled in Eastwood on Brookhill Leys Road. They owned much of the land where Addison Villas is now and also lived in the largish house on what is now Main Street next to the cemetery entrance.

But also houses at Codnor according to my great aunt Phyllis' will. No idea where though as this is heresay. I assume they are mostly buried in Eastwood cemetery although Thomas died in Heanor.

Suzard have you been able to sort out the confusion as to the parentage of Nathaniel and Charles (and possibly William?

The 1841 census gives them as not born in Derbyshire and then the 1851 census says that they are upated sons which I read to mean as adopted sons taken in conjunction with Ann Hunt being given as sister in law rather than wife of old Nathaniel(b1777/8)

I have hit a blank. To all intents and purposes if Nathaniel jun and Charles are really his nephews the trail comes back to the same grandfather but it would be nice to know.

I would also like to know where the money suddenly came from for both Charles and Nathaniel to become persons who own farms and beerhouses and lace making enterprises - employers - rather than the lime burners and stocking makers of 1841. Did they both marry money? Dorothy Dunn's father was a grocer so maybe that was where it came from for Nathaniel but Charles?

Samuel and Sarah also had a son who died when 7 days old.
I don't think Charles had a pub, I think it would have been an off licence.

Charles b.1828 had (at least)the following siblings
John 1815
Hellen 1817
Phebe 1818
nathaniel 1820
Catherine 1821
William 1822
I have details of who they married, their parents and Grandparents

Robert, it was Mount St heanor .
Charles was a Lace manufacturer most of his life -operating from Mount St -he also owned a butchers shop on Ray St-and when he died (at Ray St) he was described as a butcher.
1871 he was on Mount St and was a lace manufacturer and beerhouse keeper.
1881 still on Mount St he was just a lace manufacturer

I think he had a finger in many pies (maybe literally in later years!!!!!!!

he is a descendant of Nathaniel (Than) Hunt who was mentioned re the Methodist Chapel)

Seyjane, sorry forgot to welcome you to the site-so welcome- I'm sure we'll be able to help you -and there's lots for you to read about the area where your ancestors lived.
Daisy's age is correct on the 1901 census -she was much younger than her husband.

Charles 1st wife (mother of his children) was ELIZA BRIDGET ALDRED not ELIZA BRIDGATE! on bAptism records Bridget (her middle name ) is transcribed (sometimes) as Bridgate -and other variations)
2nd wife ELIZA RATCLIFFE
both wives died young
Charles and both Elizas are buried in the same grave in Heanor (Marlpool) cemetery.

Bridgart Allsebrooke Hunt - I think his father was William Aulsebrook -the name is transcribed in many ways, but the name Aulsebrook is a known name in Nottingham -he died the year Bridgart was born -but had been married previously -but don't think he had any other children.
