Are ou referring to my post, Volsman?

If so we are talking about different things!!

Grandparents left from the parlour to go to their funeral, and a big issue was made of telling the neighbours at what time the coffin lid would be screwed down, so they could come and pay their respects and have their last sight of the deceased person.
Quite a frightening event for a child to witness.

In later years I was allowed to take a boyfriend into the parlour, but the door was to be left open and Mum kept popping in and out offering cups of tea, sandwiches, cake etc!
