replied on: 8/14/2007 12:44:53 PM To go back to the original question, I think the houses on the right (west) side are lower than the road simply because that is the way the ground is, with the land falling away to the west towards the Valley. Just think how steep Sunningdale Avenue is as it goes down from Ilkeston Road. Even if the ground could have been built up to raise the houses, you would then have a big drop down to the back gardens. I dont think subsidence plays a part, as both the road and the sorrounding ground would have subsidedby the same amount. |
