The Gazette 6th Jan 1933

"The Tram Track"
"A start is to be made on Monday with the work of taking up the tram track. About 30 men will be set on, and work will be commenced at Codnor Gate. men who have been unemployed will be engaged, and although the actual time for the job cannot be estimated, I understand that it is likely to last for something like six months. The whole road is to be relaid and there will probably be new foundations; this of course means that all the present road will have to be broken up, hence the long period which the work is expected to take. This will be very pleasing news to all motor drivers who use the road regularly, for during the last few months it has been in an abominable state.
