Heanor Church wall

Derby Mercury Dec 9th 1868.

"The inhabitants in the neighborhood of Heanor church were greatly alarmed on Sunday evening by the fall of the wall opposite the chancel window, a great quantity if earth having fallen with it, as well as sine gravestones. Their alarm was so great that they were afraid to retire for rest for the night, as they were all but certain that there would be another fall, and that it would be accompanied by part of the church, but their fears were fortunately groundless. To an onloooker the church appears to be in a dangerous position being little more than a yard from what is now the edge of the bank, but it is said to be built on a good and sure foundation."
