I have found it listed in an insurance dictionary as a friendly society. No more details so must have been one of the smaller societies.

My hunch is that it was some form of Friendly Society, now long forgotten.

just searched the net and nothing turns up robert..maybe its like one of those masonic groups like freemasons.

Has anyone ever heard of this group?

I have come across them in the report of a funeral, in Heanor, in 1890, but have never heard of them otherwise.
