Round about 1966-7, the sixth formers did not have to wear the school uniform. I believe this was a decision made by the school council which was formed to let the pupils have more say in the running of the school. As I recall, each form elected a pupil to represent them on the council. About that time, the council also passed a motion to scrap school prefects. It was felt that the system was outmoded and did not fit into 1960's society.
