suzard Researcher	Heanor Grammar School replied on: 1/24/2008 1:27:05 PM They were definately not compulsory wear by 1959/60 school year and that year the majority of pupils did not have one -or wear one on the first day -they didn't even appear on the uniform list for new starters -which was very detailed -it even listed the type of pencils needed - Hb, 2H etc
