Railway History Jackpot

I have been searching the Internet Archive site using the word railway as a search term. There are over 300 publications listed with a railway theme. All these are believed to be out of copyright and in pdf format. The site should be easily found by using a search facility.

There are 3 publications which are of interest to local railway historians. They do contain local references including names, locations, dates and financial details.

The History of the Midland Railway by Clement E. Stretton, published 1901.

The Midland Railway by Frederick S. Williams, published 1888.

The History of the Great Northern Railway by Charles H Grinling, published 1898.

No prizes for guessing what other combinations of words can be used to produce results that are of local interest. The site is best used by a broadband connection or better. The site tends to slow down as North America wakes up so it is best viewed before early afternoon. Have fun

regards Phil
