These reports have answered so many questions for me, and also posed a few more queries regarding family members I've not heared of. Most of them I can place but there are one or two strange names on there. I found it quite emotional reading the obituries, but also quite proud of them both, they where obviously a well respected couple. I can't remember where Marshall Street is in Heanor, any idea ? Thomas the tailor mentioned in William's obit died at Langley Mill on the 12th April 1898, but I've never been able to find where he was buried. Pushing my luck a little I know !!! O. Webster A wide circle of friends deeply deplored the news of the death on Friday last of Mrs Esther Webster, wife of Mr W. O. Webster 26 Marshall St, Heanor at the age of 66 years. The internment at the Heanor Cemetery on Tuesday was preceded by a service at the Mansfield Rd Methodist Church, which was conducted by the Rev. G. W. Broomhead circuit minister, and attended by a large congregation, which included representatives of the Women’s Bright Hour, of which the deceased lady was a prominent and esteemed member. The mourners were: Mr W. O. Webster husband Mr and Mrs Lomax and Mr and Mrs J. Pinnock daughters and son-in-laws Mr and Mrs A. Webster Mr and Mrs J. Webster Mr and Mrs G. Webster sons and daughter-in-laws Mr and Mrs J. Barker brother-in-law Mrs Beardsley sister Mrs Lambert sister Mr and Mrs J. Cave sister brother-in-law Mr and Mrs Wrightson nephew niece Mrs G. Bassett, Mrs Bradshaw and Mrs Colson niece Mrs Wilcoxson and Mrs Carlin friends Plus floral tokens not copied 1st November 1947 Heanor Observer Passing of Mr. W. O. Webster over half a century with the Langley Mill and Aldercar Co-op Society The death took place in the Heanor Memorial Hospital on November 1st after six weeks illness, of Mr William Owen Webster, of Marshall St, Heanor; he leaves a family of four sons and two daughters. Mr Webster was employed for approximately 52 years by Langley Mill and Aldercar Co-operative society. He was originally at the Cromford Rd grocery department, and later became the first branch manager at Langley handling grocery, butchery hardware and boots and shoes in two small shops with only one boy to assist him. During the 52 years he was at various times manager of all the older branches of the society, and at the time of his retirement at the age of 66 had been at the Cromford Rd Central Grocery Dept for some years. Mr Webster was the last of the large family of Thomas Webster, who was a tailor at Langley Mill with premises opposite the site, which is now Langley Mill church. During recent years Mr Webster had been a valued member of the Old Men’s Fellowship, which meets weekly at the Heanor Town Ground Pavilion. Internment was preceded by as short service in the Mansfield Rd Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. S. Pickard. Mourners were: Mr and Mrs H. Lomax Mr and Mrs J. Pinnock daughters and son-in-laws Mr and Mrs Archie Webster Mr and Mrs J. C. Webster Mr and Mrs Alvah Webster Mr and Mrs G. Webster sons and daughters-in-law (I must have missed a son and wife from the first report) Mr J. H. Cave (York) brother-in-law Mrs Beardsley (Nottm) sister-in-law Mrs D Maxwell granddaughter Mrs H. Stillingfleet (Leeds) niece Representatives of the Langley Mill and Aldercar Co-op society, members of the old men’s fellowship (Heanor). Floral tributes were from Gladys and Harry Lottie and Jim Archie and Olive Jack, Lillian and family Alvah Gertie and Trevor Grenville Mary and Peter J. H. My great grandmother Esther (nee Barber) lived at 14 Ray Street in 1891 with her parents John & Rachael (nee Carrington). She married my great grandfather William in 1892 and they lived at 44 Breach Road.
