Its not on Mansfield Road - the house we were thinking of is called Ashtrees or something like that.

Then on the way home it struck me as blindingly obvious as to where it is/was!

Elmsfield Avenue!!!!

I have confirmed this from the Origin of Heanor Street Names, but need to call in next time I'm in the area to check whether it is still there and try to get an up to date photo to match the postcard.

John Holbrook was the surveyor for the Butterley Company and also for the Urban District Council. I am sure that the description 'architect' would fit him just as well.
