Strong's Shoe Shop
replied on: 4/2/2008 9:33:56 PM

A friend remembers her grandmother taking her to Strongs to buy shoes in early 1950's.
The shop was on High St - situated just around the corner from Midland Road -on the corner was Worleys butchers and a little further up was Strongs - address was 52 High St. At that time they also repaired shoes - it was considered to be a specialist shoe shop -specialising in every aspect of footwear.
The son, as my friend remembers was John Strong and was a friend of her uncles.
They also had a shop on Ray St - which is listed in 1941 Kellys Directory.
