The IGI on familysearch is quite reliable if it is an extracted record (which gives the source). it is not complete but more information is bring added all the time.

Member submitted records should be treated with caution - on many occasions they are nothing more than a guess - on other occasions they turn out to be accurate -but only after checking church/parish records etc
