Looking at your "Thorntree" entry in 1874
for Pentrich can confirm through a Deed dated 1856 in my possession that Sam Wooley also listed as Farmer farmed most of the land around the area of the pub
The 1871 census shows Cornelius living in Nottingham and described as a General Clerk to the Nottingham Council Accounts Department
GRO DEATH ENTRY 1886
Cornelius Jenkins age 57 ond 7b 343 Belper

I received the death certificate this week for Cornelius. What a shock.
He died on 14th Nov 1886 at the King William IV public house Lowshill, Ripley. Cause of death "Suicide by shooting himself with a revolver, while in a state of tempory insanity" Inquest held 15th Nov 1886.
I hope it doesn't run in the family.
