Extract taken from the Langley Mill Primitive Methodist Church record of progress regarding fund raising for payment of the chapel debt:
John Holbrook, Esq., Elmsfield House, kindly placed his grounds at our disposal for a garden party, "only on the condition that we ourselves work with the idea of making it a success by our own efforts," and the results of the garden party held on Wednesday, June 20th,1923,quite delighted our host.
We were always led to believe that Elmsfield House was on the corner of Grace Crescent.
